Old Business: Tammy Weaver has a kit of make up from her sister-in-law to donate. John Grant will think about being a board member however he may not do this, he was negative but still may decide to join us. If he does not join us there is a possibility he may do the program ad sales. Other names brought up as possibly board members to fill the vacancy were Jared Hazard, Trish Wilcox, Kevin Mercer and Kenny Knox. Special Events: (Fundraiser) - Thursday is the Church Board Meeting and Tammy will talk to them at that time about the fundraiser. She will ask for a date between now and May for the spaghetti dinner but the bottom line is we still need approval. Website - Ron has provided a note about getting the site up and running. The board email is there and is able to be checked. For additional information please see Ron Bunner. He also wants to have new pictures to add to the site and Randy Weaver will get some pictures to Ron. Also John Harmon has some pictures to be added from Marge Danner. Publicity - Randy Weaver handed out a flyer for the WBYS radio auction on March 7th. (see Randy for additional information) He mentioned that if we donated 4 sets of (2) season tickets for the auction that we can get radio spots for advertising and can use the advertisements however we want. He said it won’t cost us anything and after the auction radio spots can begin to run, he said even if we can just let people know we are still around. Randy Weaver motioned to approve the ticket giveaway and John Harmon seconded. Voice vote approved. Also mentioned by Tammy Weaver was that Graham Hospital contacts us every year to get 2 season tickets for donation for a fundraiser by the hospital. Tammy Weaver motioned to approve these 2 season tickets and Ron Bunner seconded. New Season - Tammy discussed with Cassie about doing Dracula possibly in August. Justin couldn’t make it due to his work shifts. Sweeney Todd would be his first choice and his second choice was Cabaret. He still needs to work with his supervisor on his schedule to be sure it will accommodate the show schedule. June
12th,
13th,
14th,
19th,
20th,
and 21st
would be the musical Sweeney Todd (Justin) All of the shows are tentative until Justin and Cassie are confirmed as doing their shows. Then as for the Children’s show, Larry said that Sue is Ok with mentoring the junior members for this show. Kelsey would not be available the last week of June due to Care Camp. Tammy said that the musical will be over by June 21st and the Children’s show would be the 25th - 28th of June. Amanda and Shelby are fine with these dates and if Care Camp doesn’t start until the 29th Kelsey will be fine with the show dates. The Junior members will meet with Tammy for the Children’s show on February 15th at 1:30 at the Baptist Church. Randy Weaver motioned to accept the season as tentative until the 2 can be confirmed. John Harmon seconded. Also Tammy mentioned that Samuel French is still asking for money from Come Blow Your Horn for scripts that we never received. They are sending this up to their management to review. Sign - The sign is still up and still needs to be taken down.
New Business: Larry started discussion on possible other locations for the Playhouse. Mentioned were the old Amish furniture store, down town Canton, Tumbleweed town, the old Helig Meyer store, all mentioned as possibilities for locations. Canton Country Club was also brought up by Larry. Maybe a possibility of renting it out?? FCRC was also mentioned. Larry said we need to keep our options open. Cassie mentioned a traveling theater at maybe high schools just as possibilities. John Harmon also brought up the old overall factory off of 2nd Avenue. John thinks that maybe checking with the city on parking, etc. Larry asked if he should start inquiring about locations and what are factors to keep in mind.
Money making ideas for the season: Cassie mentioned rental to other groups and an open mike night as possible ways to bring in money in the near future. John Harmon also mentioned concerns about the open mike night about no control over what is said during that time. Kelsey also mentioned something about a “whose line is it anyway” type of show. John Harmon mentioned a speech meet type of event like with the schools. Tammy talked about a “Battle of the Bands” maybe the weekend of July 3rd, 4th, and 5th. A concern was a power source for the bands. Randy said that he intends to go out and look for sponsors for his show to help off set costs. Ron said he will go ahead and post tentative dates and show schedule on the website. Ron would also like feedback on the web site and for people to check the emails. Next meeting will be March 8th at 1:30 at the Baptist Church. Cassie motioned to adjourn the meeting at 3:00 p.m. and John Harmon seconded.
